I once found a potato
shaped like my head
I showed it to my lover
and this is what she said:
~
“Taters have more vitamins
than the greenest celery stocks;
plug two wires into a ‘tater
and you can power a clock.
~
Cut one in half..
remove a broken light from a socket
The miraculous potato
always keep one in your pocket.”
~
So I planted my potato
(the one that looks just like me)
in my victory garden ..and waited…
for my new growing potato tree.
~
I shall soon have plenty of potatoes
(that look just like me)
and after ‘tater tree pickin’
I shall bring them, my love,… to thee.
~

Fun. I liked its whimsy quality.
I never thought the word ‘potato’ could be beautifully placed in a poem. You made it sound more romantic than the word ‘moonbeam’.
Well, is there anything as romantic as a tuber?
Thanks guys for stopping by.
